Step back in time among the quaint red-roof tiled townhouses of Sasanami!
Main day (Nov. 17th): Held in conjunction with the local Autumn Festival. Have fun with local elementary school students as they show you around particular areas of the city, participate in a quiz rally (and win a prize!), enjoy a complimentary serving of sweet rice porridge, and try your hand at our lottery event. We hope you will have a wonderful time and experience the charm of Sasanami.
Oct. 18th to Dec. 1st: Come for a guided tour of the town. We also have a fun activity with local tofu planned!

Guided tour of Sasanami (Oct. 18th to Dec. 1st):
- Meet at Hagi Okan Tearoom (Former Kobayashi Family Residence).
- Explore the history and cultural assests of the Sasanami-ichi Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.
(Former Kobayashi Family Residence → Merchant and artisan neighborhood of Nakanocho → Lodging neighborhood of Kaminocho → Ruins left by the Battle of Sasanami → the waterway intersection → Kosatsuba (a public noticeboard from the Edo period) → Kudoshi neighborhood → Saiganji Temple) - Tea break at the Hagi Okan Tearoom (Former Kobayashi Family Residence)

Sasanami-ichi Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings
After Sasanami was designated as an Important Preservation District for a Group of Traditional Buildings by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the local community came together to form the Hagi Okan Sasanami Doshinte Yaro Society, where we work together to develop the town.

Parking | Please use the parking at Sasanami Community Center (旭活性化センター). It is a 3-minute walk away from the meeting location. For 17th of November only: Please use the JA Car Park in front of the Hagi Okan Tearoom. |
