A concert celebrating a treasured gift from renowned physician of Western medicine, Philipp Franz von Siebold.

Welcome to the residence of the Kumaya Family, once wealthy merchants employed by the Hagi Domain. Exhibited in their residence and museum are many treasures handed down from generation to generation, including a piano gifted by Philipp Franz von Siebold, a physician known for introducing Western medicine to Japan. This very piano was recently designated as a Tangible Cultural Property by Hagi City. To commemorate this designation, the Kumaya Art Museum will be holding a special concert where guests can enjoy melodies played on the oldest piano in Japan, which celebrated its 200th year since being brought to Japan last year.
