NPO Hagi Meirin Gakusha
This tour is provided by a team of volunteers from a non-profit organization that manages and operates the Meirin Gakusha in cooperation with the local city government.
We hope you enjoy your time at Hagi Meirin Gakusha, one of the largest wooden school buildings in Japan, built on the site of the Hagi Domain School Meirinkan.

- Tour of the Bakumatsu Museum & World Heritage Site Visitor Center, located in Building No. 2

The Hagi Domain School Meirinkan, a National Historic Site
The Hagi Domain School Meirinkan was built in 1849 to educate the children of the retainers of the Mori Clan (Hagi Domain). The school grounds included a schoolhouse, a martial arts training facility, and space for military drills.
Hagi Meirin Gakusha, a Nationally Registered Tangible Cultural Property
One of the largest wooden schoolhouses in Japan, located on the site of the former Domain School.
