Indulge in the favorite foods of Shinsaku Takasugi and Takayoshi Kido at Hagi no Yado Tomoe

Shinsaku Takasugi and Takayoshi Kido—two samurai of the Bakumatsu-era who exhibited starkly contrasting personalities and approaches to various situations throughout history. Despite these differences, they shared a common objective.

Hagi no Yado Tomoe is offering a special accommodation plan that allows guests to learn about these men and their lives, as well as enjoy a feast served with all of their favorite foods. We look forward to welcoming you to our 100-year-old inn, where you will have the opportunity to experience the treasures we have inherited along the way.

Two people from the Kanto Region of Japan who absolutely adore Hagi.
We hope we can make some wonderful memories with you all.

We look forward to telling you all about Tomoe and its ties with the historical figures of Hagi.

Schedule

  2. Relax and take a dip in the ryokan’s hot springs
  3. Indulge in a banquet of Shinsaku Takasugi and Takayoshi Kido’s favorite foods
  4. Retire for the night at your guest room
  5. Breakfast
  6. Feel free to look around the ryokan and view all its treasures exhibited until check-out time

Fried tofu and Salted sea urchin, Takayoshi Kido’s favorite food

Born under the name “Kogoro Wada,” Takayoshi Kido is known as one of the Three Great Heroes of the Meiji Restoration. Here at Tomoe, you can indulge in his favorite foods, including fried tofu and salted sea urchin.

Hanging scrolls created by various historical figures of Hagi

Calligraphy by former prime minister of Japan, Eisaku Sato

This treasured calligraphy is the original penmanship of a stone monument found at Shoin Shrine, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the shrine’s establishment.
