With over 100 years of history, Iwakawa Hataten is a renowned textile dyeing shop in Hagi. For a limited time only, they are offering a special workshop where you can create your own Japanese Fisherman’s Flag to take home using traditional Japanese dyeing techniques.
Meet the Host

Sora Iwakawa | Iwakawa Hataten
Born and raised in Hagi City, Sora is the sixth generation owner of Iwakawa Hataten.
While inheriting the traditional dyeing techniques of those before him, he has made a name for himself selling his own original products nationwide.
He hopes that by enjoying the workshop, you can learn about the value of textile dyeing and the importance of passing on tradition and techniques.

The textile-dyeing shop has been in business in Hagi City for over 100 years. It has a long history of producing a diverse range of textiles, with a particular focus on fisherman’s flags. Currently, it also sells small original dyed accessories.
