Bring home your own unique fisherman’s flag, a symbol of Japan.

With over 100 years of history, Iwakawa Hataten is a renowned textile dyeing shop in Hagi. For a limited time only, they are offering a special workshop where you can create your own Japanese Fisherman’s Flag to take home using traditional Japanese dyeing techniques.

Meet the Host

Sora Iwakawa | Iwakawa Hataten

Born and raised in Hagi City, Sora is the sixth generation owner of Iwakawa Hataten.
While inheriting the traditional dyeing techniques of those before him, he has made a name for himself selling his own original products nationwide.

He hopes that by enjoying the workshop, you can learn about the value of textile dyeing and the importance of passing on tradition and techniques.

  5. End of workshop. We will contact you once your dyed piece is ready to be picked up, or send it to you upon request (postage fees not included in workshop cost).
