Step back in time among the quaint red-roof tiled townhouses of Sasanami!

Held alongside the local Autumn Festival (on the 16th of November), this special event invites you to enjoy:

1. Guided walks through the historic townscape by local elementary school students,
2. A quiz rally (with prizes!),
3. Free servings of sweet rice porridge, and
4. Garapon lottery wheel

Through these activities, we hope you will have a wonderful time and experience the charm and culture of Sasanami.

From October 17 (Fri) to November 30 (Sun), guided town tours will also be held daily at 10:00 (advance reservation required). In addition, you can reserve a hands-on ‘Sasanami Tofu-Making’ experience, and enjoy tasting dishes prepared with your own handmade tofu!

Schedule

Guided tour of Sasanami (Oct. 17th to Nov. 30th):
  1. Meet at Hagi Okan Tearoom (Former Kobayashi Family Residence)
  2. Explore the history and cultural assets of the Sasanami-ichi Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings.

    (Former Kobayashi Family Residence → Merchant and artisan neighborhood of Nakanocho → Lodging neighborhood of Kaminocho → Ruins left by the Battle of Sasanami → tea house → the waterway intersection → Kosatsuba (a public noticeboard from the Edo period) → Kudoshi neighborhood → Saiganji Temple)
  3. Tea break at the Hagi Okan Tearoom (Former Kobayashi Family Residence)
  4. Finish
Main day, held in conjunction with the local Autumn Festival (Nov. 16th):

・Special tour provided by local elementary school students (morning only)
・Quiz rally (prizes for those who answer all questions correctly)
・Free serving of sweet rice porridge
・Prize lottery

Sasanami-ichi Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings

After Sasanami was designated as an Important Preservation District for a Group of Traditional Buildings by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the local community came together to form the Hagi Okan Sasanami Doshinte Yaro Society, where we work together to develop the town.

By car: Around 25 minutes from Yamaguchi City, or 30 minutes from Hagi town center.
ParkingPlease use the parking at Sasanami Community Center (旭活性化センター). It is a 3-minute walk away from the meeting location.
For November 16 only: Please use the JA Car Park in front of the Hagi Okan Tearoom.
