Let’s dress in kimono and study at Hagi Meirin Gakusha, the largest wooden schoolhouse in Japan!

The day’s activities begin with guests changing into kimonos and having a fun photo shoot. Afterwards, we will head to the exhibition rooms of Hagi Domain School Meirinkan and Meirin Elementary School and begin our study of the history of Hagi Meirin Gakusha. Then we’ll enjoy a premium lunch prepared with seasonal and local ingredients, courtesy of Hagi Goyomi Café and Restaurant. After lunch, a guide will take us on a tour of the Bakumatsu Museum and World Heritage Site Visitor Center, where we will have the opportunity to gain further insight into Hagi’s history. To finish the afternoon, we will have a small literature class about the Analects of Confucius, once important teachings of the Hagi domain, and end our day with a cup of matcha tea.
