Welcome to Hagi Castle Town in Wonderland
Alice, recreated by local artist Yoshiro Oda, seems to have gotten lost in the castle town of Hagi! Join us on a journey to find Alice through an art workshop set in a traditional old-style Japanese home.

Chiharu Sato | CASA
Moved to Hagi (and loving every second of it!) after living in Fukuoka, Osaka, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Italy.
This is your chance to see paintings come to life in a 170-year-old wooden Japanese house!
Schedule
- Explanation of CASA, an old Japanese-style house located within Hagi Castle Town.
- Explanation of Mr. Yoshiro Oda’s artwork, “Alice in CASA.”
- Create a collage artwork of your own Alice in Wonderland.
- With your artwork in hand, head over to Kikuya Family Residence and visit the “Alice in Kikuyake” exhibition with Mr. Oda.
- Stroll through the Castle Town in search of Alice.

CASA | Center for Arts and Sustainable Activities
CASA is an old-style Japanese house built at the end of the Edo period. It opened in the fall of 2023 as a place to introduce goods and activities related to art and sustainability.

Access | Using JR services: Take the shinkansen to Shin-Yamaguchi Station. Take bus from Shin-Yamaguchi Station to Hagi Meirin Center bus stop, and walk for around 10 minutes. By air: You can access Hagi from either Yamaguchi Ube Airport or Hagi Iwami Airport. Take shared taxi etc. to Hagi Museum Car Park, and walk for around 4 minutes. By car: Drive on the Edo IC (accessed via Mine JCT) from Chugoku Expressway and park at Hagi Museum Car Park. CASA is a 4 minute walk away. By Hagi City Circular Hop-on Bus: Take the Eastern Route bus and get off at the Hagi Museum bus stop. CASA is a 4 minute walk away. |
