Relax by candlelight and enjoy vinyl music from the 60’s at our ship chandlery café
Muraya Café invites you to sit back, relax and indulge in an evening of music from the 60’s and 70’s, amidst candlelit retro sailing equipment that was sold and used in the area during the Meiji period. Alcoholic beverages will be provided courtesy of Kissa Ennoshita Café, with a selection of homemade lemon sour cocktails, sake, whisky and more.

Yasufumi Miyata | Muraya Café
An expert on the history of Hagi and the local area of Hamasaki, Muraya Café owner Yasufumi is happy to tell you all you’d like to know about the town.
With the goal of making the former merchant town of Hamasaki more known and to have a place where they can give a warm welcome to visitors in the area, Yasufumi and his wife opened Muraya Café together in 2022.
Normally open during the day, Muraya Café will be opening their doors at night for two days only. They can’t wait to spend the evening with you!
Schedule
- The café will be open from 6 pm to 10 pm—feel free to hop by whenever you like!
- Mini shirasu-don, drinks served with light refreshments and more will be available to purchase from ¥1,000.
- Drinks, etc. can be purchased from the counter, pub style.
- Relax with your drink and enjoy the vinyl music from the 60’s and 70’s.

The ship chandlery, originally built in the Edo period
Located in the Hamasaki Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings, Muraya Café was once a ship chandlery built in the Edo period.
Paraffin lamps used in the Meiji period
Muraya Café is decorated many treasures from the past, including paraffin lamps that were used to light up ships during the Meiji and Taisho periods.
