This is a class aimed to teach you the charm of Japanese paintings and how to take care of them like a professional. The current head of the Kikuya family, who is also an art historian, will show you a selection of the family’s art collection and tell the story of each piece as you view it. It is hoped that by learning the highlights and history of the artwork, you will be able to find new ways to enjoy it and look at it from a new perspective. You will also have the opportunity to have a go at hanging up the artwork using traditional tools. The venue is a traditional tatami room built in 1934 that is usually closed to the public. Please enjoy the fall view outside, which is especially beautiful viewed from tatami rooms, and finish with a cup of matcha tea served with Japanese sweets.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Art historian & the current head of the Kikuya Family, official merchants of the Mori Clan during the Edo period. The Kikuya Family Residence is located within Hagi Castle Town, and is open to the public, where visitors can get a glimpse into the Kikuya family\u2019s day-to-day lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
