Come and experience what it was like to be a merchant in the Edo period at the Kikuya Family Residence in Hagi. Originally a wealthy family of merchants who provided services to the Mori clan during the Edo period, their residence has been meticulously preserved so that you’ll truly feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Dressed in a traditional coat worn by Kikuya family merchants, participants will have the opportunity to experience working behind a traditional store counter selling Hagi’s local goods, just like in the Edo period!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Once a family of merchants who served the Mori clan, five buildings within the residence are designated Important Cultural Properties, where visitors can catch a glimpse of the family’s everyday life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
